Venice: Canaletto and His Rivals at the National Gallery
Wednesday 27th October
The production of vedute or view paintings of Venice became a major industry in the 1700s, and the artist most commonly associated with this particular genre was of course Canaletto. However, other lesser known artists such as Francesco Guardi, Luca Carlevarijs, Michele Marieschi and Bernardo Bellotto also specialised in the genre, and the National Gallery's landmark exhibition will exhibit them side by side, showing how their work demonstrated quite different approaches to similar subjects.
There will be an introductory slide lecture followed by lunch (optional) then timed entry tickets to the exhibition. The study day fee is £40 and includes the lecture, a private tour, tickets and audioguides.
Please email info@arthistoryinfocus.com for a booking form
Gauguin at Tate Modern
Saturday 4th December
If you enjoyed van Gogh at the Royal Academy you will love this exhibition, the first dedicated to the artist in London in over half a century.
More details will follow soon. Please email Sian if you would like to join the mailing list for updates and further information
